Facing a mental health crisis

The following list may be helpful in accessing national or Texas-based support services during a mental health crisis. Please note that this list is not comprehensive. Additional community resources in Texas (health, food, housing, etc) may be found through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission by calling 211 or visiting 211texas.org.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, a danger to self or others, and in need of immediate assistance, please utilize either of the following:

  • Contact 911 or the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team in your county (see below)

  • Go to the nearest hospital/emergency room

To contact or find information for local (Texas) mental health crisis services in your county (e.g. Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams), follow these steps:

  • Visit www.mentalhealthtx.org

  • Select "Talk to Someone Now" and enter either your county or city/zip

  • Call the number for your county's Local Mental/Behavioral Health Authority
